Some of the larger international hotels served what they said was the local cuisine but it was usually doctored to appeal to foreign tastes. A group of business partners, all fine gourmets, aware of what they felt was a serious lack, decided to do something about it and Bussacum was the result.

Bussaracum quickly established a formidable reputation for it selt. When visiting heads of state, -Canada Prime Minister Pierre trudeau and the King of Sweden, for came to bangkok, a dinner at Bussaracum was often one of the scheduled highlights of the visit.
